Lesson Plan 1: -Math- Making Towers
In this lesson the students practiced counting to a designated number given by making towers of the same height using counting cubes.
Lesson Plan 2:
-Reading- What Are the Characters Feeling?
In this lesson, the students will be trying to put labels (a phrase not pictures) in their emergent reading storybooks about what the character is feeling or what the character looks like. They will be doing this with the Three Billy Goats Gruff and other emergent storybooks.
Lesson Plan 3:
-Phonics- Hearing all the Sounds with Elkonin boxes
In this lesson, the students will be trying to hear and write all the sounds in words, given by the teacher, by using counters and Elkonin boxes to segment a word into its phonemes.
Lesson Plan 4:
-Math- Making 2D Shapes on Geoboards
In this lesson, the students will be practicing identifying and making 2D shapes with geoboards and rubber bands.
Lesson Plan 5:
-Phonics- Recognizing Snap Words No Matter What
In this lesson, the students will practice recognize snap words no matter what they look like. To do this, they will be matching snap words that look a little different on a chart, as well as going on a snap word scavenger hunt around the room.
Pre K Science Water Unit In Action
One of the most fun Units I did in Pre K was the Water Science Unit. Here is an example lesson and some extra projects we did. During this lesson, we did an experiment calledWalking Water.
In this we started by coloring in the before pictures based on what we saw.
Then after a short discussion of what we think will happen based on what we know and have learned about water; We put in the paper towels in and watched as the water started flowing into each of the empty cups from the full ones and made a new color from mixing. I asked opened ended questions during this time.
After the experiment was finished we colored in the after picture on our worksheet and had a discussion about, what had occurred and why.
We discussed and concluded based on what we saw that water flows and goes downward. This matched the lessons goal and a Pre-K Guideline.
Below are all of the water experiments we did for this unit...
